The Future of The United States Rests On Two Georgian Senators
What the next three months mean for America.
It’s over—the campaigns, the fights, and, more importantly, Donald Trump’s presidency. I’m not going to pretend like I’m not ecstatic about Joe Biden and Kamala Harris winning the election. Our country needed a reboot back to normal.
As the fogginess of the next four years clears, the nation's eyes will be switching from to something magical happening in Georgia.
I’m not talking about Stacy Abrams or the amazing black voter turnout.
I’m talking about the two senate seats that are up for grabs in Georgia and what that means for the future of our democracy and our country.
The Special Election
In December 2019, Senator Johnny Isakson resigned from his position due to health concerns during his third term. The Governor of Georgia appointed Kelly Loeffler to the position and defend the seat in the 2020 election. Raphael Warnock stepped forward to challenge her, and spectacularly, received 32.87% of the vote. But he missed the 50% threshold required to avoid a runoff.
Warnock and Loeffler will face off again in a two-candidate runoff election.
